Miles Overview
The 5 Series is BMW's mid-size luxury sedan, the one that splits the difference between the 3 Series and the 7 Series. It's a car that feels smaller than it is from the driver's seat, with quick steering and a planted feel that makes long trips easy. Inside, the cabin is roomy and well laid out, with supportive seats and plenty of space for four adults. The iDrive infotainment system is one of the easiest to use, with a rotary controller and crisp graphics. Stepping up from the 540i to the M550i xDrive swaps the inline-six for a 4.4L V8 that pumps out 523 horsepower, plus standard M Sport suspension and upgraded brakes. That 4.4L V8 pairs with the eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, making the M550i a genuine cross-country missile that hits 60 mph in the mid-three-second range. On the road, it's a comfortable highway cruiser when you want it, but the twin-scroll turbochargers wake up instantly the moment you ask for more.
