Miles Overview
The SL is Mercedes' open-top grand tourer, a two-door convertible that blends luxury with genuine sports-car capability. It's quick and composed, with sharp steering and a chassis that feels planted even when you push it through a series of corners. The ride is firm but never harsh, and the cabin stays quiet with the top up, so it works for long trips as well as weekend drives. Inside, you get a modern digital cockpit and a 12.3-inch touchscreen, with enough room for two adults and a small trunk for luggage. Stepping up from the SL 43 gets you a V8 and all-wheel drive, plus the extra muscle and grip that make the SL 55 the enthusiast pick of the range. Its 4.0L V8 makes 469 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, channeled through a nine-speed automatic to all-wheel drive, so it launches hard and hooks up confidently in the wet. Expect a firm ride tuned for cornering grip, and with 16 mpg combined, you'll be visiting the pump often.
