The CLE-Class is Mercedes-Benz's two-door grand tourer, offered as a coupe or convertible with a choice of four-cylinder, six-cylinder, and AMG-tuned powertrains. It squares off against the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5, blending a more elegant silhouette with a focus on comfort. The CLE handles with a poised balance between sportiness and refinement, though the ride can feel firm on rough pavement. Inside, the cabin is trimmed with high-quality materials and features the latest MBUX infotainment, with space for two adults in the rear. A mild-hybrid 2.0L I4 and standard all-wheel drive set the CLE 300 apart from the rear-drive BMW 430i, while the CLE 450 and CLE 53 bring six-cylinder power above it. The 2.0L I4 makes 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, with the integrated starter-generator smoothing out stops and adding a boost off the line; the nine-speed automatic shifts quickly and the EPA rates it at 26 mpg combined. The CLE 300 rides on Comfort suspension, so it's more forgiving over broken pavement than the AMG-tuned trims, but you give up the sharper handling of the adaptive dampers available on the CLE 450.
