Miles Overview
The CLE-Class is Mercedes-Benz's mid-size two-door, offered as a coupe or convertible in a lineup that replaced the old C-Class and E-Class coupes. If you're also looking at a BMW 4 Series or an Audi A5, the CLE is the one with the more elegant cabin and a smoother ride. Every CLE feels planted and composed on the highway, and the steering is accurate enough that you'll enjoy a back road without it ever feeling nervous. The cabin is a genuinely nice place to spend time, with high-quality materials and a large touchscreen that runs Mercedes' latest MBUX software. The CLE 300 is the one to pick if you want the CLE experience without stepping up to the six-cylinder CLE 450, and it still comes well equipped. Its 2.0L I4 makes 255 horsepower and uses a 48-volt mild hybrid to smooth out the stop-start and give a little electric boost off the line, and the nine-speed automatic shifts smoothly around town. The standard Comfort suspension is tuned for a relaxed ride, so expect it to absorb bumps better than the sportier CLE 53 but to lean a bit more in corners.
