Miles Overview
The CLA is Mercedes' compact four-door coupe, a sleek sedan with a sloping roofline that stands apart from the boxier A-Class. If you're cross-shopping, the Audi A3 and BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe are its main competitors, but the CLA leans more toward style than sport. The base CLA 250 is smooth and quiet, while the AMG versions sharpen up with quicker steering and a firmer, more planted feel. Inside, you get a modern twin-screen dash and a back seat that's snug for adults, so it's best for two plus occasional passengers. The CLA 250 is the one to pick if you want Mercedes style and a smooth daily driver without the AMG price tag; the CLA 35 costs more and adds power, but this one is plenty for commuting. Its 2.0L I4 makes 221 horsepower and works with a 48-volt mild hybrid that smooths stop-start and gives a boost off the line, while the eight-speed automatic shifts quickly and gets 30 mpg combined. Standard 18-inch wheels and all-season tires keep the ride compliant, and the front-drive layout means lighter weight and better fuel economy than the all-wheel-drive version.
