Miles Overview
The Silver Spirit is Rolls-Royce's full-size sedan from the early 1980s, the successor to the Silver Shadow. It wafts along with the hushed, effortless glide you expect from a Rolls, isolating you from the road rather than engaging you with it. Inside, the cabin is trimmed in thick leather and real wood veneers, with seats that feel like armchairs. Running costs are substantial, and parts can be hard to find, so a thorough pre-purchase inspection is essential. The Silver Spirit was the standard-wheelbase sedan, while the Silver Spur offered more rear legroom and the Corniche was the two-door convertible. Under the hood is a 6.8L V8 paired with an automatic transmission, delivering the smooth, near-silent power you expect from a Rolls-Royce. The Silver Spirit rides on a self-leveling hydropneumatic suspension that keeps the body flat over bumps, but it's a complex system that requires specialist care.
