2016 McLaren 570S

The 570S is McLaren's entry-level supercar, the one that brings the brand's mid-engined formula to a slightly more usable package. It's a scalpel on the road, with telepathic steering and a chassis that makes you feel like a hero on a back road. The ride is firm and busy at low speeds, but it settles beautifully once you're moving with purpose. The cabin is snug and driver-focused, with a simple layout that puts everything within reach. This is the base coupe, so you give up the convertible top and the more aggressive aero of the 600LT, but you save a lot of money and still get McLaren's core experience. Its 3.8L V8 makes 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, sent through a seven-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and it's a wildly responsive powertrain that pulls hard to redline. Optional carbon-ceramic brakes and the Track Pack's lighter seats sharpen it further, but the standard steel brakes still stop with serious authority.
