Miles Overview
The MP4-12C Spider is McLaren's first production convertible, a mid-engined supercar that trades the coupe's roof for open-air thrills. It's brutally quick and precise, with steering that feels telepathic and a chassis that flatters you on a back road. The ride is firm even in Normal mode, but the carbon tub keeps things taut without rattling your teeth. The cabin is snug but well laid out, with a dihedral door that makes getting in and out a little theatrical. The Spider is the open-top version of the MP4-12C; you get a power-folding hardtop and the same carbon-fiber chassis as the coupe. The 3.8L V8 makes 616 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic that shifts as fast as you'd want.
