2019 Land Rover Range Rover Velar R-Dynamic SE

The Velar is Land Rover's sleek mid-size SUV, the one that trades some of the brand's boxy utility for a coupe-like roofline. On the road, it feels more like a grand tourer than a traditional off-roader, with light steering and a calm, refined gait at highway speeds. Inside, the cabin is minimalist and modern, with dual touchscreens controlling most functions and plenty of room for four adults. Cargo space is decent for the class, and the hands-free power tailgate makes loading gear easy, though the sloping roofline cuts into rear headroom. The R-Dynamic SE is the trim for buyers who want the Velar's sleek styling and a long list of standard equipment without stepping up to the HSE's higher price. Its 2.0L I4 makes 247 horsepower and pairs with a smooth eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, which is enough for daily driving but feels leisurely when you ask for quick acceleration. The R-Dynamic trim adds unique exterior styling details and a sportier interior, but the ride is still tuned for comfort rather than sharp handling.
