1999 Jaguar XK

It's a relaxed cruiser that eats up highway miles, with a silky engine and a ride that's more about comfort than sport. Inside, you get a wood-and-leather cabin that feels special, though rear seats are tight and the trunk is modest. Reliability is typical for a late-'90s British car: generally solid, but expect occasional electrical gremlins and cooling system quirks. The XK convertible is the open-air version of the coupe, trading the fixed roof for a power-operated top and a more relaxed silhouette. Its 4.0L I8 produces 290 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque, routed through a five-speed automatic to the rear wheels, and returns 17 mpg combined. With the top down, the cabin is surprisingly quiet at highway speeds, though the rear seats are best left for small children or bags.
