Miles Overview
The 2004 XJ is Jaguar's full-size flagship sedan, a proper rival to the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series. It drives with a quiet, effortless confidence that makes long trips feel short, and the ride is supple without being floaty. Inside, the cabin wraps you in leather and wood, with ergonomic controls that make you feel like you're in a cockpit. Owners note the traction in snow is weak and the cup holders are flimsy, but major mechanical issues are rare. The Short Wheel Base is the more agile XJ, giving up a little rear legroom for tighter handling and a lighter feel than the long-wheelbase version. Under the hood is a 4.2L V8 mated to a automatic transmission, sending power to the rear wheels with a silky, effortless pull that suits the car's grand-touring character.
