Miles Overview
The Sportage is Kia's compact crossover, the one you'll cross-shop with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. It steers crisply and feels smaller than it is, which makes it easy to park and fun on a back road. The ride is on the firm side, and cabin noise picks up at highway speeds, but the seats stay comfortable for long trips. Cargo space is a bit tight for the class, though the rear seats fold flat to stretch it out. The SX gets the same 2.0L I4 as the base cars, but with a turbocharger that lifts output to 260 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. That engine pairs with a six-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, and the combination returns 21 mpg combined. Only the SX offers the sport-tuned suspension, which firms things up for sharper cornering at the cost of a stiffer ride.
