Miles Overview
The Sportage is Kia's compact SUV, the one that competes with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. It steers crisply and feels nimble around town, though the ride is on the firm side. The cabin is roomy up front and the rear seats fold flat, but rear legroom is a bit tight for taller passengers. Some owners mention blind spots and a lack of trunk space, and a few report surface rust on the gas tank. The LX is the base trim, so you get steel wheels and cloth seats, but it also undercuts the EX by a few thousand dollars and uses the same 2.4L I4. Its 2.4L I4 makes 182 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed automatic, which is willing enough for daily driving but will feel busy on a long grade.
