Miles Overview
It rides smoothly and soaks up bumps well, though the base engine feels a bit sluggish around town. The tall roof gives you generous headroom and a commanding view, and the rear seats fit adults comfortably. Cargo space is modest for a hatchback, and the rear door swings up high, which can be awkward when your hands are full. Standard features include Bluetooth, USB inputs, and alloy wheels, and the available touchscreen is easy to use. The Base trim gives you the 1.6L four-cylinder and a six-speed manual as standard, while the Plus and Exclaim step up to more power and an automatic. With 130 horsepower from the 1.6L I4, it's adequate for city driving but needs a downshift on the highway; the manual helps you keep it in the sweet spot. The manual gearbox is rare in this segment, and it makes the Soul feel more connected than the automatic-equipped trims.
