2017 Hyundai Accent SE

The Accent is Hyundai's subcompact, offered as a sedan or hatchback for 2017. It's peppy around town, though highway passing needs planning, especially with the eco mode on. The cabin is roomier than you'd expect, with good headroom and a decent trunk in the sedan. Owners report few problems and low maintenance costs, helped by Hyundai's long warranty. The base SE is the entry point, with 14-inch steel wheels and cloth seats, while the Sport adds a more aggressive look and the Value Edition bundles convenience features. Under the hood is a 1.6L I4 making 137 horsepower, paired with a six-speed manual that makes the most of the engine's modest output around town. The SE's standard six-speed manual is engaging and lets you keep the engine on the boil, but the available six-speed automatic adds an Eco mode for better fuel economy.
