The 2022 Trax is Chevrolet's smallest crossover, a subcompact SUV slotting below the Equinox in the lineup. It competes with the Honda HR-V, Nissan Kicks, and Ford EcoSport in the subcompact crossover class. The Trax feels nimble around town, with light steering that makes parking easy, though the engine works hard on the highway. The cabin is basic but functional, with a simple dashboard and seating for five, though rear legroom is tight. A 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes standard, along with a rearview camera. The LT adds alloy wheels, heated mirrors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel over the base LS, while skipping the leather seats and larger screen of the Premier. Its 1.4L I4 makes 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque, routed through a six-speed automatic to the front wheels, which keeps it responsive in the city but busy on grades. The LT can be ordered with all-wheel drive, which adds rear disc brakes and a bit more traction in snow or rain.
