2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback SE

The Corolla Hatchback is Toyota's compact five-door, a more practical and sporty take on the familiar Corolla sedan. It's genuinely fun to drive, with a willing engine and a chassis that feels eager through corners. The ride is on the firm side, which is the trade for how well it handles. The cabin is well laid out and the hatchback body gives you a useful amount of cargo space behind the rear seats. The SE ditches the XSE's 18-inch wheels and fog lights for 16-inch alloys and a clean front end, saving weight and keeping the ride a little more forgiving day to day. Its 2.0L I4 makes 169 horsepower and pairs with either a CVT or a six-speed manual, and the manual has automatic rev-matching that makes heel-and-toe downshifts feel effortless.
