Miles Overview
The 2024 4Runner is a body-on-frame SUV that sticks to its off-road roots, competing with the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco. It drives with a truck-like feel, and the steering is light but direct for a tall SUV. The ride is firm on pavement, but that stiffness pays off with composed handling over rough trails. Inside, the cabin is utilitarian with hard plastics, but it offers generous cargo space and a simple, durable layout. The 4Runner has a well-earned reputation for longevity, with many examples surpassing 200,000 miles without major issues. The SR5 Premium adds SofTex heated seats, an 8-way power driver's seat, and a heated steering wheel over the base SR5. Its 4.0L V6 makes 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque, paired with a five-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, earning 17 mpg combined. The part-time 4WD system includes Active Traction Control and an automatic limited-slip differential for serious off-road capability.
