Miles Overview
The RAV4 is Toyota's compact SUV, the one that started the small crossover trend and still feels right-sized for city parking and tight garages. It's easy to drive and sits solidly on the road, with steering that gives you full control in corners and on the highway. The rear hatch swings to the side, which is handy for loading but can be a hassle in crowded lots, and the spare tire mounts on the back. Owners report strong reliability and low maintenance, though some note the 4-cylinder can burn oil and interior lights may go out over time. The 2005 RAV4 comes well-equipped from the base, and the optional all-wheel drive adds grip for snow or dirt roads without making the SUV feel heavy. Its 2.4L I4 makes 149 horsepower and pairs with a four-speed automatic, giving you enough punch for merging and passing, though you'll want to plan uphill passes. You can option anti-lock brakes and side airbags, which help the RAV4 feel more secure around town and on the interstate.
