Miles Overview
Toyota's mid-size three-row SUV, the Highlander, was the family hauler of the lineup, competing with the Honda Pilot and Ford Explorer. It drives with a smooth, easygoing character, and the steering is light, making it simpler to maneuver than its size suggests. The cabin is roomy and practical, with a third row that folds flat to open up a large cargo area for luggage or groceries. Owners praise the Highlander for its reliability and versatility, noting it handles car seats and all the family gear without complaint. Sport trim adds a tougher look with its unique grille and black wheel arches, though the Limited offers leather and a sunroof instead. The 3.5L V6 pairs with an automatic transmission to move this Highlander smoothly, and front-wheel drive keeps weight down and fuel economy at a reasonable 20 mpg combined.
