Miles Overview
The 1999 Land Cruiser is Toyota's flagship off-roader, a body-on-frame SUV built for serious trail work and long-haul travel. Inside, the cabin is spacious and straightforward, with seating for eight and a quality of materials that wears well over decades. Owners consistently report these trucks surpassing 250,000 miles with regular maintenance thanks to the durable powertrain and stout build. Full-time four-wheel drive and a locking center differential set the VX apart from the lighter-duty Land Cruisers of the era. Its 4.7L I8 makes 230 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque, routed through a four-speed automatic to all four wheels, which is plenty for towing and trails but returns 13 mpg combined.
