The Z is Nissan's two-seat sports coupe, the direct successor to the 370Z and a throwback to the original 240Z. It's a proper driver's car, with sharp steering and a chassis that communicates exactly what the tires are doing. The ride is firm but not punishing, and the seats hold you well during hard cornering. Inside, the cabin is snug but well laid out, with easy-to-reach controls and a clear digital gauge cluster. The Performance trim adds the mechanical limited-slip differential, bigger brakes, and wider rear tires that the Sport leaves out. Its 3.0L V6 makes 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, routed through a six-speed manual to the rear wheels, and it returns 20 mpg combined. Only the Performance gets the adaptive dampers and the launch-control rev-matching system, so it's the one to pick if you plan to track it.
