Miles Overview
The CX-9 is Mazda's three-row family SUV, the one you cross-shop with the Highlander and Pilot when you want something that feels less like a minivan. It drives smaller than it looks, with responsive steering and a firm, controlled ride that keeps body roll in check on winding roads. Inside, the cabin feels upscale for the price, with quality materials and a clean layout, though the third row is best left to kids and the cargo space shrinks when it's up. Owners report solid reliability overall, with a few early battery issues and one rear shock replacement, but most say maintenance has been care-free. The Sport is the no-frills pick for value-minded families who want the CX-9's driving character without the leather and sunroof of the Touring.
