Miles Overview
The 2018 CX-5 is a compact SUV that blends sharp styling with a driver-focused character, competing with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. The CX-5 steers crisply and feels agile for its size, making it one of the more engaging compact SUVs to drive. The ride is firm but well-controlled, and road noise is noticeable at highway speeds, a trade-off for its sporty demeanor. Inside, the cabin is upscale with quality materials, and the rear seats offer decent space, though the middle seat has a lumpy foot area. Standard tech includes a rearview camera and Bluetooth, while higher trims add a clear touchscreen, blind-spot monitoring, and Bose audio. Heated leather seats, the bigger touchscreen, and Bose audio set the Grand Touring apart from the Touring trim below it. The 2.5L I4 makes 187 horsepower and pairs with a six-speed automatic; with all-wheel drive it returns 26 mpg combined around town. The adaptive front lighting system swivels the headlights into corners, which is a nice perk on dark roads.
