Miles Overview
The 2021 CX-5 is Mazda's compact SUV, slotting between the smaller CX-3 and the larger CX-9 with a focus on style and driving engagement. It competes with the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Subaru Forester, but takes a more upscale, driver-oriented approach than those mainstream rivals. The CX-5's steering is quick and precise, and the chassis feels eager through corners, making it one of the most enjoyable compact SUVs to drive. Inside, the cabin is trimmed with soft-touch materials and available leather, giving it a premium feel that rivals more expensive luxury SUVs. Cargo space is adequate but not class-leading, and rear legroom is a bit tight for taller passengers, so families may want to check the fit. The Sport is the entry to the CX-5 range, but it still gets the same 10.25-inch display and i-Activsense safety suite as pricier trims. Its 2.5L I4 makes 187 horsepower and uses a six-speed automatic, with all-wheel drive standard; expect 26 mpg combined in mixed driving. Unlike higher trims, the Sport wears 17-inch alloy wheels and cloth seats, keeping the price low without losing the good chassis underneath.
