Miles Overview
The 2022 Forester is a compact SUV that puts standard all-wheel drive and a tall greenhouse ahead of style, competing with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. The Forester handles with a light, accurate feel that makes it easy to place in traffic, though acceleration is modest when merging onto highways. The ride is absorbent over most surfaces, and the seats are supportive for long trips, making it a comfortable daily driver. Cargo space is generous for the class, and the boxy shape means the rear seats fold flat for bulky items like furniture or camping gear. Its 2.5L I4 makes 182 horsepower and works with the automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels for confident traction in rain or snow; expect 29 mpg combined in mixed driving. The Sport is the only Forester with a dual-mode X-MODE that includes snow/dirt and deep snow/mud settings, giving it a bit more off-road capability than the Premium or Limited.
