Miles Overview
This Forester is Subaru's compact SUV, the one that started the modern crossover craze with its tall roof and big windows. The boxer engine keeps the center of gravity low, so it corners flatter than most tall SUVs and feels stable at highway speeds. The ride is a bit bumpy over rough pavement, which is the trade for that planted, car-like handling. The cabin is roomy for the size, with a big cargo area and those handy rear cup holders that keep kids from squabbling. The 2.5L I4 makes 224 horsepower and 226 lb-ft of torque, and with all-wheel drive it pulls strongly from low revs, though the four-speed automatic is a four-speed that feels dated on the highway.
