The Crosstrek is Subaru's compact crossover, the one that shares its bones with the Impreza hatchback and is often cross-shopped with the Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross. It feels light and nimble around town, with a ride that's a bit firm but composed on rough pavement. Inside, you get a straightforward dashboard with easy-to-use controls, and the rear seats fold flat to open up a generous cargo area for its size. EyeSight driver assistance is standard on most trims, bringing adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist to the compact crossover class. The Sport sits between the Premium and the Limited, and it's the one that swaps the base 2.0-liter for a punchier 2.5-liter engine. That 2.5L I4 makes 182 horsepower and pairs with a CVT and all-wheel drive, so it feels noticeably quicker merging onto the highway than the lower trims. It also gets dual-mode X-MODE with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings, which is the most capable off-road traction system in the Crosstrek lineup.
