Miles Overview
The 86 is Toyota's rear-wheel-drive sports coupe, the one you buy when you want a pure driver's car without the German price tag. It's a joy to drive, with a balanced chassis and a manual gearbox that makes every shift feel like an event. The steering is quick and communicative, and the low seating position puts you right in the action. The cabin is snug but well laid out, with supportive seats and a simple, driver-focused dashboard. The Hakone Edition adds green paint, bronze wheels, and unique interior trim over the base 86, with no power bump. The 2.0L I4 makes 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, and with the six-speed automatic it's happy to rev out on a back road. It gets the same Sachs dampers as the limited-production 860 Special Edition, so the ride is taut but controlled.
