Miles Overview
The X4 M is BMW's high-performance take on the X4, a compact SUV with a coupe-like roofline that trades some rear headroom for a sleeker profile. It's a sharp-handling SUV that feels more like a sports car than a crossover, with quick steering and a firm, controlled ride. Inside, you get a driver-focused cockpit with supportive M sport seats, but the sloping roof cuts into rear headroom and cargo space. Like other M models, it asks for premium fuel and will cost more to insure and maintain than a standard X4. The X4 M is the one to get if you want the X4's sportiest driving experience without stepping up to the Competition model's extra power and track-focused tuning. Its 3.0L I6 makes 473 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque, routed through a eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, and the engine pulls hard from low revs with a deep, urgent sound. Fuel economy is predictably low at 17 mpg combined, and the stiff suspension and low-profile tires deliver tenacious grip but a busy ride on rough pavement.
