Miles Overview
The 2016 Model S is the large electric fastback that put Tesla on the map, a five-door hatchback with room for five and a big cargo area under the rear glass. It drives like nothing else from 2016, with instant response and a low center of gravity that makes the heavy battery pack feel planted through corners. The ride is firm and the cabin is on the quiet side, but you'll feel every expansion joint on rough pavement. The big center touchscreen controls nearly everything, and over-the-air updates keep adding features long after you buy it. The 70D splits the difference between the base 60D and the quicker 85D, giving you all-wheel drive and a 240-mile range estimate for a price that undercuts the bigger battery cars. Its dual-motor all-wheel drive delivers instant traction in rain or snow, and the electric motor paired with the automatic transmission makes merging onto the highway effortless every time. Unlike the 60D, the 70D unlocks the full Supercharger network at full speed, so road trips are genuinely practical without the range anxiety of the smaller pack.
