2016 KIA Sorento EX

The Sorento is Kia's three-row midsize SUV, a family hauler that's a common pick alongside the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot. It drives with a composed, car-like feel that's easy to live with, though the base engine can feel a bit sluggish when you need quick acceleration. The cabin is a real highlight for the price, with upscale materials and a big touchscreen that owners love for its seamless Bluetooth and crisp navigation. Reliability is generally solid, but a few owners have hit AC and sunroof glitches that were fixed under warranty. The EX sits one step up from the LX, adding a more powerful 3.3L V6 and standard features like a larger touchscreen and push-button start. Its 3.3L V6 makes 290 horsepower and pairs with six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, enough thrust to feel confident merging onto the highway. You can add the optional third row to get seven seats, making the EX a rare midsize crossover that seats three rows in front-wheel drive.
