Miles Overview
The 2016 X3 is BMW's compact SUV, the one you'd cross-shop with the Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC. It's eager and planted, with a suspension that keeps body roll in check on twisty roads. The ride is on the firm side, so you'll feel sharp bumps in the city, but it settles down on the highway. The cabin is well put together with quality materials, and the rear seats fold 60/40 to swallow bulky cargo. Its 2.0L I4 makes 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, paired with the eight-speed automatic, and returns 24 mpg combined. It's the only X3 that skips all-wheel drive, so you'll want winter tires if you live where roads get slippery.
