The 2016 X5 is BMW's mid-size luxury SUV, offered in rear- or all-wheel drive and a plug-in hybrid, competing with the Mercedes-Benz GLE and Audi Q7. The X5 feels planted and stable at highway speeds, with strong acceleration from the available engines and a composed ride that masks its size. The cabin is luxurious and comfortable, with supportive seats and a long list of features, though the optional third row is best left to small children.
