Miles Overview
The 2020 Tacoma is a midsize pickup that takes on the Chevrolet Colorado and Ford Ranger with a rugged, off-road-ready character. The Tacoma handles city streets and tight trails with ease, though the ride can be firm on rough pavement. The cabin offers plenty of room up front and useful tech like Toyota Safety Sense, but the back seat is snug for tall passengers. With short- and long-bed options and strong towing capability, the Tacoma suits weekend hauling and daily driving alike. Toyota's reputation for durability carries over here, though some owners have reported transmission and differential issues. The SR is the base Tacoma, skipping the SR5's extra convenience features to keep the entry price low. It's powered by a 2.7L I4 making 159 horsepower, paired with a six-speed automatic and two-wheel drive for an EPA-rated 21 mpg combined. You get a simple cloth interior and a basic stereo, but the trade-off is a truck that undercuts pricier trims by thousands.
