Miles Overview
The Tacoma is Toyota's compact pickup, the one that's been a go-to for light hauling and weekend off-roading since the late '90s. It's easy to drive in tight spots and handles rough trails without complaint, which is why so many owners keep theirs for well past 100,000 miles. The cab is snug, especially with four people aboard, but the seats are comfortable and the storage spots are thoughtfully placed. The bed swallows bulky loads like framing lumber with room to spare, though the four-door's bed is a bit short for really long items. The PreRunner gives you the V6 and the rugged looks of the 4WD model but skips the front drive axle, which saves weight and a few dollars at purchase time. This one has the 3.4L V6 making 190 horsepower and a four-speed automatic sending power to all four wheels, which gives it confident traction on loose gravel or wet pavement. The four-wheel drive adds a low-range transfer case for crawling over rocks, and the trade is a combined 16 mpg combined around town.
