Miles Overview
The 2004 Tacoma is Toyota's compact pickup, a smaller truck that's easy to park and maneuver in the city. It's a simple, honest truck to drive, with a ride that's smooth on pavement and confident on dirt roads. The cabin is snug, especially with four people, but there are plenty of cup holders and storage nooks for a small truck. Owners praise the Tacoma's dependability and ease of maintenance, with many reporting high miles and few real problems. The PreRunner sits between the base Deluxe and the four-wheel-drive models, giving you the V6 power and lifted stance of the off-road trucks without the extra weight or cost of a transfer case. Its 3.4L V6 makes 190 horsepower and 220 lb-ft of torque, paired with a four-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, which is enough to pull a small trailer or merge onto the highway without working the engine hard. The PreRunner's taller suspension and all-terrain tires give it a slightly firmer ride than the Deluxe, but it handles gravel roads and rutted trails with the same composure as the 4x4 models.
