Miles Overview
This is Toyota's compact pickup, the one that slots below the full-size Tundra and competes with the Ford Ranger and Chevy S-10. It's nimble and easy to drive, especially off-road, and the four-wheel-drive versions will get you out of most sticky situations. Owners report these trucks running past 180,000 miles with few issues, and they're known for being tough and long-lasting. The Deluxe is the no-frills work truck of the Tacoma lineup, skipping the PreRunner's V6 and extra comforts to keep the price down. Its 2.7L I4 makes 150 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque, paired with a four-speed automatic and four-wheel drive, good for 18 mpg combined. The Deluxe rides on a leaf-spring rear suspension that handles a load well, though the ride is firmer than the PreRunner's when the bed is empty.
