The 2016 Honda Pilot is a three-row SUV that slots between the compact CR-V and the minivan-like Odyssey, offering seating for up to eight. It competes with the Toyota Highlander, Ford Explorer, and Nissan Pathfinder in the midsize SUV segment. The Pilot accelerates smoothly and handles confidently for its size, though the nine-speed automatic can occasionally hesitate in low-speed driving. Inside, the Pilot offers generous space across all three rows, with a flat-folding third row and plenty of cargo room behind it when not in use. Available features include a blind-spot camera, navigation, and a rear-seat entertainment system, while Honda Sensing driver aids were optional on many trims. The Elite is the top Pilot trim, adding the full Honda Sensing suite, ventilated front seats, and a rear entertainment system as standard, while the Touring below it leaves those as optional. Its 3.5L V6 makes 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, routed through a nine-speed automatic to all-wheel drive, and it returns 22 mpg combined.
