2005 Toyota Avalon XLS

The Avalon is Toyota's full-size sedan, a step up in size and comfort from the Camry and a natural rival to the Buick LeSabre and Ford Crown Victoria. It's one of the smoothest, quietest rides in its class, with plush seats that make long trips feel short. The cabin is genuinely roomy, with a wide rear seat that reclines and a trunk that swallows four suitcases with room to spare. Owners report the Avalon as one of the most dependable cars they've owned, with many going years without a trip to the shop. The XLS is the only trim for 2005, so you get the full luxury treatment without wondering if you should have stepped up. Its 3.5L V6 makes 280 horsepower and works with a five-speed automatic, delivering smooth, effortless power and 22 mpg combined. The XLS can be ordered with a power rear sunshade and optional side curtain airbags, rare touches for a 2005 Toyota.
