Miles Overview
The 2016 Avalon is Toyota's full-size sedan, a roomy four-door that competes with the likes of the Buick LaCrosse and Kia Cadenza. It's a smooth, quiet cruiser that soaks up highway miles with ease, though the suspension is on the firm side, so you'll feel sharper bumps. Inside, the cabin is a highlight, with soft-touch materials and available heated and cooled seats that make it feel more upscale than its price suggests. Toyota's reputation for dependability carries over here, and owners report few problems beyond the occasional airbag recall notice. The XLE Plus skips the Limited's leather and upgraded audio, but keeps the same strong 3.5L V6 and adds a power-adjustable front passenger seat that the base XLE lacks. Under the hood is a 3.5L I6 making 268 horsepower, paired with an automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, which makes this Avalon a relaxed highway cruiser that never feels strained.
