2019 Subaru Ascent Limited

The 2019 Ascent is Subaru's largest SUV, a three-row family hauler that slots above the Forester and Outback. It competes with the Honda Pilot, Toyota Highlander, and Ford Explorer in the crowded three-row crossover segment. The turbo engine pulls strongly from low revs, making the big SUV feel quicker than its size suggests. The ride is composed on pavement, though the suspension is tuned firm to keep body roll in check. The cabin is roomy and practical, with generous second-row space and a third row that folds flat for cargo. The Limited is the luxury pick of the Ascent range, adding leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, and a power liftgate over the Premium. The 2.4L I4 makes 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, and the CVT keeps it in the sweet spot for passing on two-lane roads; expect 22 mpg combined.
