Miles Overview
The 2023 Subaru Ascent is a three-row family SUV that seats up to eight, slotting above the Outback and below the larger body-on-frame SUVs. The turbocharged engine gives the Ascent confident passing power, and the steering is light and accurate for a vehicle this size. The cabin offers generous space for seven or eight passengers, with a large cargo area behind the third row and a practical, easy-to-use layout. Subaru's EyeSight driver assistance suite is standard, including automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping assist, and the Ascent earns top safety ratings. The Premium is the entry point to Ascent ownership, sitting below the Onyx Edition, Limited, and Touring, so you skip the bigger wheels and leather but keep the same engine and all-wheel drive. Its 2.4L I4 makes 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, and the CVT sends power to all four wheels with a manual mode and paddle shifters, so it feels quick and sure-footed on the road. You can get the second row as captain's chairs instead of the bench, which drops seating from eight to seven and makes the third row easier to reach.
