Miles Overview
The Baja is Subaru's car-based pickup, a niche truck that blends Outback comfort with a small open bed. It drives more like a car than a truck, with a low step-in and a composed ride that hides its bed. The bed is handy for gear, and the rear seat folds to extend cargo space, though it doesn't lay completely flat. Owners praise its long life past 100,000 miles, but some report electrical gremlins and head gasket leaks as it ages. Its 2.5L I4 makes 210 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque, sent through a four-speed automatic to all-wheel drive, which gives it enough grunt to merge confidently. Expect 18 mpg combined in mixed driving, which is the trade-off for the extra power over the base model.
