Miles Overview
The 2016 Subaru Outback is a wagon-like SUV that blends car-like comfort with genuine off-road capability, a niche it shares with the Volvo XC70 and the Audi Allroad. The Outback handles confidently on paved roads and feels sure-footed on gravel or snow, with a ride that absorbs most bumps without complaint. Inside, the cabin is roomy and practical, with generous cargo space and a high seating position that gives good visibility. Available EyeSight adds adaptive cruise control and pre-collision braking, and the infotainment system includes Bluetooth and a touchscreen. Owners praise the Outback's all-weather grip, spacious interior, and the expandable roof racks that carry just about anything. You give up the 3.6R Limited's extra cost versus the 2.5i trims, but you gain the stronger six-cylinder engine and the Limited's leather upholstery and power driver seat. The 3.6L I6 makes 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque, giving the Outback confident highway merging and strong hill-climbing power that the 2.5i models lack.
