Miles Overview
The GLS-Class is Mercedes-Benz's largest SUV, a three-row luxury hauler that seats up to seven with room to spare. It squares off against the BMW X7 and the Range Rover, offering a blend of opulence and capability that few can match. The GLS drives with a commanding presence, its air suspension soaking up bumps while keeping body roll in check on winding roads. Inside, the cabin is a showcase of leather, wood, and twin 12.3-inch displays, with a third row that actually fits adults. The GLS 63 S AMG swaps the GLS 580's V8 for a hand-built 4.0L V8 with hybrid assist, AMG-specific 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, and an electronic limited-slip rear differential. Its 4.0L V8 makes 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque through a nine-speed automatic, and the mild-hybrid system smooths stop-start and adds a torque fill between shifts. The AMG-specific air suspension with active roll stabilization keeps the body flat through corners, though the ride is firm even in Comfort mode.
