Miles Overview
The GLS is Mercedes' full-size luxury SUV, the one you cross-shop with the BMW X7 and the Range Rover. It's a big SUV that drives smaller than it is, with a composed ride and plenty of power from every engine. Inside, the cabin is genuinely opulent, with three rows of seats that fit adults in the back and a huge cargo area behind the third row. The dual 12.3-inch screens run Mercedes' latest MBUX system, and the standard driver aids include active braking and blind-spot monitoring. The Maybach GLS 600 is the ultra-luxury choice for buyers who want the GLS's space but with a quieter, more pampered cabin than even the GLS 580 offers. Its biturbo 4.0L V8 with a mild-hybrid system makes 550 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque, and the nine-speed automatic shifts so smoothly you barely feel it. The standard E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL air suspension reads the road ahead and adjusts each wheel independently, so this big SUV glides over bumps without leaning in corners.
