2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class GLE 63 S AMG

The GLE-Class is Mercedes-Benz's midsize luxury SUV, slotting between the GLC and the larger GLS. Its rivals include the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Volvo XC90, all vying for the same upscale family buyer. The GLE drives with a composed, planted feel, and the air suspension option smooths out most road imperfections. The cabin is spacious and quiet, with a large touchscreen and comfortable seating for five. Reliability is average for the class, with some reports of electrical gremlins in the infotainment system. The GLE 63 S AMG sits at the top of the GLE range, above the GLE 53 AMG and the GLE 580, and trades a bit of fuel efficiency for the most power and the sharpest handling. Its handcrafted 4.0L V8 makes 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, routed through a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive, and the 48V mild-hybrid system smooths out starts and adds a subtle electric boost. Standard AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL with active anti-roll bars keeps the body flat through corners, so you get sports-car composure without the harsh ride you'd expect from a big SUV.
