Miles Overview
The 2024 GLE-Class is Mercedes' midsize luxury SUV, offered as a traditional SUV or a sleeker coupe-styled variant. It competes with the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Volvo XC90, bringing a blend of opulence and capability. The GLE drives with a composed, planted feel, absorbing bumps while keeping body motions in check. The cabin is a showcase of high-end materials and tech, with a large dual-screen display and available massaging seats. A handcrafted biturbo V8 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system sets the GLE 63 S AMG apart from the GLE 580 and GLE 53 AMG below it. The 4.0L V8 makes 603 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, routed through a nine-speed automatic and fully variable all-wheel drive that can send power entirely to the rear for a livelier feel. Expect a firm but controlled ride from the active roll stabilization and adaptive air suspension; 16 mpg combined reflects the power on tap.
