Miles Overview
The GLE-Class is Mercedes-Benz's mid-size luxury SUV, slotting between the GLC and the full-size GLS. It takes on the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Range Rover Sport in the premium three-row SUV segment. The GLE rides smoothly and quietly, with a composed demeanor that suits long highway trips. Handling is secure and predictable, though the high seating position means some body roll in corners. Inside, the cabin is plush and spacious, with comfortable seats and a user-friendly infotainment system. The GLE 63 S AMG is for buyers who want the full muscle-car experience in a luxury SUV, with a hand-built engine that sets it apart from the GLE 400. Its 5.5L V8 makes 577 horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque, routed through a seven-speed automatic and all-wheel drive that launch it to 60 mph in under four seconds. Fuel economy is 15 mpg combined, the trade for having one of the most powerful SUVs on the road in 2016.
